Nineteen years later, Hernandez, 37, has gone from an intern to the principal/founder of the Jersey Memorial Group that operates 11 funeral homes and two cemeteries. Nine of the funeral homes are in New Jersey and one is in Pennsylvania. In May, Hernandez purchased a funeral home and two cemeteries in West Virginia. Learn More

The Community YMCA and YMCA of Western Monmouth County will celebrate coming together as the newly united YMCA of Greater Monmouth County and honor influential community leaders at their Stronger Together Gala on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 from 6-11 p.m., at The Addison Park in Aberdeen.

“The Stronger Together Gala will be the highlight of an exciting and historic year for the YMCAs of Monmouth County as we join forces as one Y to strengthen the foundation of our community,” said Laurie Goganzer, president & CEO of The Community YMCA. “We are looking forward to honoring five dedicated volunteers who’ve been instrumental in helping the Y increase its impact.”

This recognition highlights the innovative ideas developed and carried out by the Pursuit of Excellence Award winners. Only 2 firms from across the USA were chosen from the Pursuit of Excellence Award recipients as the outstanding programs of the year. Best of the Best Award winners have developed quality programming that goes the extra mile for the families and communities they serve. Old Bridge Funeral Home is now considered the top funeral home establishments in the United States.

Perhaps what we are most proud of is NFDA honoring Old Bridge for creating and publishing the monthly newspaper "All Around Old Bridge", a hyper local, apolitical paper highlighting the people and businesses of Old Bridge. The paper also highlights monthly articles from elected officials including the Mayor, Council President and many of the department leaders informing residents of the progress and initiatives taken within the town. This program was created with private investment dollars at no cost to the tax payers of Old Bridge.
